TK Maxx hacks you need to know
TK Maxx is one of my favourite shops because you can just find some absolute gems in there for incredibly discounted prices.
On their website they state that they “deliver great value on ever-changing selections of brand name and designer products at prices up to 60% less than the RRP and at a significant discount to the prices in a department store or on the high street.” which is basically a long-winded way of saying they stock a wide range of discounted products.
Aside from the products already being discounted from their retail price, there are a number of ways to save even more money if you know these tips and tricks...
£1.99 Click & Collect
Save on delivery (£3.99) when you order online by collecting from selected TK Maxx stores (check its delivery info page to find out if your local store offers click & collect). Orders of £50+ get free Click & Collect.
Try haggling
According to research done by Money Saving Expert, TK Maxx shoppers had a success rate of 74% when haggling prices - so it's worth a go if you're feeling brave enough, especially if the item is slightly damaged.
Know the codes to look out for
If the number is a one, it means the product was specifically produced for TK Maxx. A number two means it's "genuine unsold stock." And if the product has a number seven it means "the product was packed away from the previous year."
Search online by savings
As well as hundreds of stores across the UK, you can search the TK Maxx website via a “Biggest Savings” option. Here you can scour bargains across a variety of categories such as toys, women’s or men’s clothes, and then filter your items from “RRP Saving (High to Low)”. This gives you the chance to spot the biggest discounts in no time.
Try and shop midweek
According to TK Maxx insiders, the best time to grab bargains are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. So I guess it’s alright for any of you who don’t work a 9 - 5.
Check the clearance section
If big savings are your thing, you won’t do better than in the epic clearance section, where you’ll find everything from accessories to clothing for rock-bottom prices of up to 96% reductions. Items get moved here if they haven’t been snapped up after four to six weeks, and quickly get purchased by bargain hunters.
Prepare yourself in advance
I don’t like promoting impulse buying or overconsumption, I would always suggest going in with a list of things you’re actually looking for, or if you did just want to browse and see what gems you can find, I’d suggest just setting aside a budget so you know exactly how much you can allow yourself to spend on a few new treats.
